Combining Structural and Monitoring Data in Open Pit Mines


The aim of the proposal is the extension “Integration of laser, radar and total station with 3D kinematic analysis to support the interpretation of the mechanism of structurally controlled failures” funded in the framework of LOPII, to support the development of a specific software package to allow final users to implement the methodology developed, tested and validated in the above project at their operations in an independent way. As detailed here, the main motivation driving the research above was related to the strong conviction of the investigators of the value, when dealing with structurally controlled movements, which represent the majority of the slope instabilities in open-pit mines especially at bench, multi-bench and even inter-ramp scale, of the combined use of structural data and monitoring data.
