Congratulations to Emeritus Professor Derek Martin from the University of Alberta, Chair of the LOP Research Committee, on receiving the 9th ISRM Müller Award for his outstanding contributions to rock mechanics and rock engineering. The Müller Award is presented every four years at the ISRM Congress and consists of a special Müller Lecture, a work of art typical of the culture of the country hosting the Congress and a silver medallion with a portrait of Leopold Müller. Professor Martin received this prestigious honour at the 15th International ISRM Congress in Salzburg, Austria (9-14 October 2023), where he delivered the Müller Lecture on “Stress path, stiffness, and mobilized strength in rock masses (Near Surface Structures)”.
